Prekindergarten Program (4–5-year-olds)

Four- and five-year-old are active eager learns. In our prekindergarten classroom the children’s day is full of discovery, exploration and investigation. Our prekindergarten program promotes school readiness for all children academically and socially. The children have a structured schedule and is given more responsibility. We teach children through hands on learning experiences while the children are exploring in various learning centers such as; science, art, music, blocks, math, reading, dramatic play, and manipulatives.

Curriculum 


In this classroom there is a balance of teacher directed activities as well as child selected activities. The curriculum is theme based and meets pre-kindergarten objectives and Tennessee Early Developmental Standards. Some of these objectives cover, but are not limited to; language and literacy, cognitive development, social/emotional development, fine and gross motor skills.



A few examples of things the children will focus on are; letter recognition as well as it sounds, counting items, rote counting and identifying numbers, spelling and write their names as well as identifying it, rhyming, determining more, less, big, and small, and various shapes including 3 dimensional.

Parent involvement and communication


We have a open-door policy and we believe parent involvement is very important and the family is the most significant contributor to a child’s lifelong learning and development.
